How to Play
Fractal Combat X is a 3D flight combat game that offers the choice between using a mouse or a keyboard for controls. However, due to the complexity of the onscreen UI, using a keyboard is recommended for a smoother experience.
Controls:
- W/Up Arrow - Ascend (Descend if inverted)
- S/Down Arrow - Descend (Ascend if inverted)
- A/Left Arrow - Steer Left
- D/Right Arrow - Steer Right
- Spacebar - Shoot Missiles
As a pilot in Fractal Combat X, you'll undertake various missions in your chosen jet (provided you have enough credits). Each mission involves flying through challenging environments and shooting down targets. The mission is completed when all targets are eliminated. Targets are indicated by green arrows around your crosshairs, and when a target is in view, it will be highlighted with a green marker. Keep the target in your sights until a lock-on is confirmed, then fire your missile. Be aware that enemies can retaliate, and their missiles will be marked by red arrows when they're off-screen. If your jet takes too much damage, you will be shot down and must restart the mission.
Successfully completing missions earns you credits, which can be spent on various upgrades or new jets in the lobby screen. Each jet has unique strengths and weaknesses, and upgrades can improve various aspects of your current jet, such as speed, missile power, movement, defense, and electronics.
When selecting missions, you have the choice between Story, Quick Play, and Daily modes. Story and Quick Play are always available for quick gameplay and credit earning, while Daily missions have specific requirements and rotate regularly.

In Fractal Combat X, maintaining sight of your target is crucial. Employ varied flight patterns to evade incoming missiles and keep multiple targets in view. If enemies fire at you, dive to avoid their missiles when they get close.
